Aloha Tips

#1

After you pick up your rental car head to the grocery store and stock up on beverages, snacks and meals. I always purchase breakfast and snack food to enjoy on the hotel lanai.

#2

Skip a few meals out and enjoy breakfast and lunch on the beach. Take your snacks and a bottle of wine down and enjoy the sunset.

#3

Take advantage of Aloha hour (happy hour) specials on food and drinks. Turn an Aloha hour into an early dinner to save money.

#4

Make dinner reservations in advance. If you have a group larger than 4 you’ll most likely need a reservation or will be waiting 45+ minutes during prime time for a meal.

#5

Do not schedule any water activities/ tours for your last 2 days of your trip. If this would get cancelled there is no time to reschedule the activity/tour. I always suggest to schedule these half way through the trip to allow time to make it up if needed. (*Pro tip: do not schedule a morning activity the night after a luau. You’ll want some extra rest that morning).

#6

You do not have to splurge on the Jeep Wrangler. An economy car will get you around the island just fine. I’ve done the Road to Hana in this several times. (If the jeep is in the budget enjoy!!)

#7

Enjoy free entertainment. Activities and luaus can add up. Take a look at the local calendar and see what free activities are going on while there.

#8

Visit during shoulder season for lower hotel rates and less crowds: The months of May, October, and early November are the “low” seasons in Maui, and this is when you can find deals and still enjoy good weather.

#9

Golf in the afternoon. You can save 50% by playing in the afternoon. Afternoons are often windy, but if the forecast calls for light winds then the only difference is the price.

#10

Rent snorkel gear/SUP from a local vendor (not at the hotel). You’ll be able to rent it for less than half the price and you can rent by the week. They will strap the board to your car as well.
