Full/Half Day Trips

Road To Hana

One of the most jaw-dropping stunning excursions. The Hana Highway is a 64.4-mile-long stretch. Take the entire day to explore or make it a half day and turn around after the black sand beach- Wai’aanapanapa State Park (32 mile marker). Start in the town of Paia and grab an acai bowl from Paia Bowls. You are not going to want to eat too much as there is plenty of food to taste on your cruise. Pull over and check out these spots on your adventure: Bamboo forest, twin falls, garden of eden arboretum. *remember to leave early in the morning as it tends to get busy.

Nakalele Blowhole

Take a drive up to the northern part of Maui to Nakalele Point to view the blowhole. These are some of my favorite views of Maui. I like to take the drive slow and pull over at Honolua Bay and hike down and see the snorkelers. Take the Honolua Bay access trail. This is a great quick hike. On your drive make sure to pull over at the several overlooks for photo ops. On the way back stop at the Plantation House for a late brunch/ lunch and enjoy the amazing views.

Upcountry

Take a drive up to the countryside and explore the beauty Maui has to offer away from the beach. Make sure you check out MauiWineUlupalakua Ranch StoreAli’i Kula Lavender Farm, Surfing Goat Dairy and Upcountry Farmers Market.

Whalers Village

Beachside mall with boutiques, restaurants, a whaling museum, hula lessons & other activities. You can make a whole afternoon in this area. Shop a bit and hit up Hula Barefoot Bar for happy hour and Monkeypod for dinner. Click here to learn more

Lahaina Front Street

Oceanfront shops and galleries offer a taste of Old Hawaii. I suggest to go late afternoon and hit up some local shops, aloha hour and grab a nice ocean view dinner at FleetwoodsKimo’s or Mala Ocean Tavern. Don’t forget to visit the Banyan Tree.

Turtle Beach

Check out Ho’okipa Beach Park. This is a spacious state park & surfing spot filled with a white sand beach, picnic areas & pavilions. You’ll see surfers, world class windsurfers, beautiful sandy beaches, and natural wildlife including hundreds of giant sea turtles. I enjoy coming here in the morning with a beach towel and fresh coconut.

Haleakala

The world’s largest dormant volcano rising 10,023 feet above sea level and offering some of the best views in all of Hawaii. Enjoy the views by making a sunrise reservation, biking down through the clouds to stargazing at night. Give yourself a few hours to enjoy this trip. Click here to learn more

Maui Ocean Center, The Aquarium of Hawaii

This 3 acres facility is the largest tropical reef aquarium in the Western Hemisphere. Great family activity. Click here to learn more

Lanai

Lanai offers excellent snorkeling and dolphin watching opportunities. Take a quick 90 minute round trip ferry ride over and check out a different island for the day. It costs $30 per person one way and you should be able to book your Maui ferry tickets on the day of.

Explore Paia

This laid back, surfer hippie town in Maui is one you do not want to miss. Spend a morning or afternoon exploring the shops, galleries and watching the surfers at Hookipa Beach (the windsurfing capital of the world). Don’t be surprised if you get a quick rain shower here (remember “no rain no rainbows”). If you’re lucky you’ll see Owen Wilson walking around this town.

    1. Thank you. I love West Maui for families. Anywhere in Kaanapali Beach is great. There are so many options depending on price range. I love Royal Lahaina and Honua Kai Resort. There is a long board walk that connects all properties to Whalers Village. Great sandy beach as well. Let me know if you’d like more insight. Thanks for checking out the site. Aloha!
